More Rejection

In yet another comical twist and turn of my life, I have also been turned down as an Election Assistant for the upcoming European elections. Woohoo!

Caribbean Volunteering

Noticed an interesting opportunity today. A volunteer group are looking to assemble a team to go to Antigua to work on a local history project and oral archive, as well as all the usual conservation work. It would cost me £1850 for 3 months out there, which includes living costs and expenses - but not flights. It might be worth checking out, if the company gets back to me any time soon. Mind you, I don't know where I'd get the money from. I have no idea how many students can afford these gap years and excursions - rich parents, I guess.

Radio Chris

I've just volunteered to work at a couple of local hospital radio stations to get some experience. Let's see if anything turns up!

Is it possible to be turned down for volunteer work? If it is, I'm sure I'll manage it somehow :)

Job Applications

Well, so much for MA's helping you to get better jobs! So far, I'm getting turned down left, right and centre.

Civil Service (Fast Stream): Failed
Which? Magazine Researcher: Failed
BBC History On-Line Placement: Failed

...and now the one that really hurts...

Waitrose Graduate Scheme: Failed

Waitrose are a bloody supermarket! So, I have a Master's Degree from one of the world's top universities, an excellent employment record and some top-notch skills, and I'm not qualified to tell people where to stack frozen chickens.

Sometimes, I just have to laugh! :)
